GENERAL INFORMATION

Candidates who seek admission into this programme must possess a minimum of five (5) credits in WASC or SSCE at not more than two sitting in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

However, a candidate with a minimum of 10 years cognate experience in optical dispensing (apprenticeship), who has two or three credits in any of these subjects may also be considered for admission.

TRAINING DURATION:

The duration of the training programme is six (6) semesters or three (3) academic years.

CERTIFICATE TO BE AWARDED:

The final professional examination that will lead to the award of a Diploma certificate National Diploma in Dispensing Optics (NDDO) will be conducted by the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN) simultaneously in all the training schools. Only successful students in the professional board exams will graduate from the programme. However, unsuccessful students will be allowed to re-sit the qualifying examination in two subsequent years. A student who is unsuccessful after two extra attempts will be advised to withdraw from the programme.
